To celebrate summer, we’re sharing this month’s art pairing free to anyone who wants it! See Todd Moellenberg’s sound film, Spitting Images, paired with mail art by Angie Jennings.
For conceptual diarist Todd Moellenberg, producing and sharing his work is a daily activity. He begins by choosing simple materials, such as an idiomatic saying (“three sheets to the wind”) or animated gif, and then he repeats and layers video and audio until they become abstract and surprisingly musical. For his film, Spitting Images, Todd synthesizes his daily explorations into a large-scale work.
The mail art for this month is created by multi-disciplinary artist Angie Jennings, whose work has been described as “mysterious, dynamic, and brimming with an evocative intensity.” Her mail art is a digital collage, painting inspired by conversations with Todd. It creates a visual vortex that reimagines Todd’s video concepts at play as a single image.
